Getting Real Close to Starting this Car
Hey. My friend has a 1990 CRX Si and we just replaced the engine in it in our high school autoshop class. We tried to start it today and its only cranking over. Were not getting any spark or fuel, so what all should we check out on it on monday? Im gonna check the distributor on that day, but were pretty sure its good. Umm could it possibly have anything to do with the fact we dont have the intake and Mass Airflow Sensor hooked up? We spent a good two hours looking over the wiring after class. What else should we check for since the car has sat around unused for about 10 years.
Thanks for the help.

You should check the ecu ground that gets bolted to the thermostat housing because it is very easy to forget to bolt it on and you wont get spark or fuel.
if you have that wire hooked up than check the main relay under neath the dash to make sure that its cliking on also check the ecu under the passenger floor mat to see if the led ligth is flashing any codes.
Ok. Ill look for any lights on the ECU. How can I tell if its just receiving power and operating normally? Also, what do you mean by checking the main relay if its clicking? Im still a bit new to the electrical systems in a car, but I have a little background on electronics.

Ok. We got quite a few problems sorted out. The car is now getting spark. Turned out to just be a bad fuse under the dash and us being pushed for time on friday.
Now our problem is with fuel. The fuel pump is not turning on and priming so we have no pressure. We checked out the 3 pin connector on the fuel sending gauge and its getting about 6 volts. Does that sound right? I also checked out the main relay and followed the service manuals directions on checking it. For some odd reason, Im getting -.01 volts when going on the white/blue wire to the ground. And if I checked out the wiring correctly, that wire is what sends power to the pump when the car is started. Any help on these would be appreciated. Thanks.
