Default so i finally started my own shop

1364square feet (only 1080 is shop) in a complex in burlington. i don't have much, but will be getting a small lathe, some drill presses and tooling this weekend... will also be getting a real bandsaw and air compressor and some more damn outlets in the next week probably. hopefully within the first year i will have a cnc, the limiting factor though is going to be the small door for it to fit thru so it will have to be quite small.

looks good, about 10x bigger than mine. I have a 12x12 shop, enough for what I need.

Congrats! My fiancee's uncle started his own CNC shop in his basement 20 years ago and here it is today (4 Fadal CNC mills, 2 Mazak lathes w/ automatic bar feeders, Automated soldering system, numerous manual mills/lathes):

There's a simple solution to the small door: Install a garage door!

Congrats.

why dont you just convert the mill you already have to cnc. There is a bunch of retrofit kits that would probably save you some $$$. Good luck man

Good luck Aaron, the shop looks great. Just build those ramp's from aluminum and you'll be golden.

NICE!

Thats exactly what I will be looking for eventually. Something small, and well lit. Everyone has to start somewhere.

But keep in mind...more than 90% of all small businesses fail within the first year. Keep track of everything.
