Wanting to buy a 99-03 TL...???
I've been shopping around for one and I've come across people talking about tranny problems. Is this really bad or is it from people not treating the car right? Also, what offset wheels do I need to get if I go for aftermarket rims?
trans problems were solved in the 04 model year and 99-03 automatic can fail prematurely....all 00-02 TL/CLss carry a 7 year 100K warranty on trans and SOME of the 03's do
you have to run the vin past your local acura dealer or plug it into owner link. Either way will tell you if the car is covered
if it is NOT covered and you DO NOT get any assistance from acura, it will cost you approximately $5K to replace the transmission and TCM (trans control module)

I used to work for a car rental agency that did a lot of business for the local Acura dealership, and I couldn't tell you how many people kept having their transmission repaired or replaced for that particular generation TL.
