Default Pressing in wrist pins...

Hello there! First off, I am working on my third b-series all motor build. This time I want to do just about everything my self (except the crank balance / micropolish). I have a couple of questions about pressing in wrist pins.

I have a hydraulic press and was wondering if anyone had some tips about pressing in/out wrist pins. I was thinking heating up the rods and cooling down the wrist pins to make things easier to press in? Should I use lube, or no lube? I did everything my self on my last project except for the wrist pins. The machine shop did that for me (charged $40) . I just enjoy being able to say that I did it all, from the build, chipping, tuning, and to the racing...

When pressing them out, be careful. The pistons can bust into a billion pieces when done wrong. I would suggest to put a rag or build something to support the bottom of the pistons better. The piston’s support/press grooves are not sufficient enough to support the load pressure. Goodluck with your build.
If I were you, I would just pay the 40bucks.

Yea, I was thinking about making somthing out of wood to match the curve of the piston to keep thing from getting marred up. Last time when the shop pressed off my old pistons, they cracked one of the stock ones in half by accident. I guess i could practice by pressing out some d15 pistons I have laying around the garage...
