Default 96 LX lock problem

I have searched other topics for malfunctioning locks but they did not fit my senario exactly. I have power locks and whenever I hit the lock switch from the inside, it starts making a winding type noise for like a second then it will repeat that noise sparatically until i hit the switch the other way. I have taken my door panel off but I have no knowledge of any of the components. Could it be the actuator? And the car will only lock if i go around to the passenger side door to lock it with the key, but still makes the noise.

Any suggestions would be awesome.

Sorry for the long post

I have this same problem on my coupe. Unfortunately it only does it in the cold weather. For some reason the computer recycles the locks till it feels that all doors are locked. I didn't find this out till one cold November morning when i warmed up my car. I had unlocked the driver side but not the passenger side. Started the car and walked away. Just to come back 10 minutes later to find out the computer had recycled the locks again back into the locked position. Locked the keys inside the car and had to get a new one cut, all the while my car was running. Pain in the butt. However i pulled the door panel off the following day and adjusted the linkage rods that go into the actuator. One of them seem to be bent. That seemed to fix the problem temp.

I promise that you can remove the drivers door lock actuator, and fix it.
When you have it out, open it up and you will see a plastic 'tab' that the spring pushes against; the 'tab' will be broken loose and tilted away from the spring.
Shim it back straight with little washers or whatever and epoxy the 'shims' in place.
Throw it back together, and roll on.

Nope, No pics yet; I've got all the pics and info to make up another webpage like the links below in my 'sig'.
But as long as georgie "boy", says I'm Stupid and don't help people I'm not 'Giving' Honda-Tech any more of my webpages.
I gave them all these links of my pages for the FAQ files, and the next day he messages me that I'm stupid and never help people, yet still has my pages in his FAQ files ?? Go figure!!
