Default Fuel starvation at track or autox

just wondering how bad the s2000 suffers from fuel starvation in a turn.

how low can you go in a tank before you have to worry about it?

Until it's on fumes.

Even running on R compounds the S doesn't starve for fuel.

Now oil, that's a different concern.

Only time I hear about stalls is when people run it down to the light.

good to hear its not as bad as a civic.

wonder how much effort was put into a creating a well for the fuel pump into the fuel tank.

driving yes, but once the engine is shut off, you wont be able to get it started up again. You can get the car to starve for fuel on auto-x courses even with 1/4 tank of fuel. Some s2k's are worse than others, even within the same model year.

If I remember correctly my Integra had a 13.2 gallon fuel tank and so does my S2000.

The difference is the fuel economy, not the capacity.

Ran it down to the light and it wouldn't even take 11gallons. It's not 13.

sometimes it depends on the floater .... some floater sink a bit and some actually floats on the top of the fuel...

No man, I mean never. I've never had to put more than 11 gallons.

ok.. great! ... i never insist you can shove 11gal of fuel... i was merely saying the light indicator varies on the floater...

my stupid sensor doesn't know wtf is going on half the time and gives me wishy washy answers on how much fuel i have. i never trust it. i just estimate by how hard i've been driving, and for how many miles.

Is that like that one question where the guy asks "How far/fast can I drive on my S with a spare?". Test your last reserve and find out the hard way.

i did. i was on 0 and i live at the top of a large hill so i drove around twisty residential at a nice cruising speed till it started to sputter so i just coasted down to the gas station at the bottom. i think i got like 296 driving like a granny the entire tank. heavy spirited driving-200. medium=250-260. granny=280 before i fill up.

310-ish. With more displacement. Still didn't take 11 gallons.

optimal fuel efficiency from the engine will be at the peak torque curve. That's why my gas mileage improved when I switched from the stock final drive to the 4.44 and finally the 4.77. There were people screaming bloody murder on s2ki and didn't understand I was logging my mileage and fillups.

Anyways...Project, the tank is larger than 11gallons. You probably have a miscalibrated fuel level sensor. After I calibrated my stack cluster when I first installed it (requires adding fuel in 10 increments) I noticed the fuel sender sends out a really wide array of voltage readings depending on the G-forces the car experiences.

Personal experience: I've ran out of gas 3 times at different track events. Once at laguna seca, once at buttonwillow, and lastly at willow springs. After getting a friend to dump a gallon of gas, it wasn't enough to get the car started. Required another gallon just to start the car, at which point the gauge still read 0 bars of fuel. So the reserve is deeper than most think.

You's crazy. I never even touch the reserves.

So wtf is the point of the reserve then?

I knew something was up because my fuel gauge had just dropped to 0 bars and after I got out of work i went to start the car......just started, sputtered then died.....hmm odd....

Sooo if the tank is larger than 11 gallons....only about 11 of them can actually be used? And the rest is there for added weight i guess...
