Is it worth it?
Depends on your tires.
I have 16 inch slipstreams then are lighter then my 15 inch circuit 8s.
The 16s have 205/45 Paradas
the 15s have 205/50 Aziens
The 15s feel sluggish accelerating compared the 16s but the grip is WAYY more.
I would guess each 15" tire/wheel weighs a good 3-4lbs more then the 16" combo. the 15s are supposed to be 1.5lbs lighter each, but the aziens weigh a lot compared to other 15 inch tires
Seems everyone forgets that when you goto smaller wheels, you have to run more rubber

the lighter the better
Hey guys, I was just wondering, is it really worth it to sell my 16" rims, and get some lightweight 15"s? Do you accelerate faster with 15" rims or 16"?
All depends on the inertial mass.
IMHO, 16's are just fine... espcially if they weigh ~11lbs. As others have mentioned, you've got more tire weight with 15's, so the weight penalty of 16" combo is not that much. Personally, I prefer the feel of 45-series tires (16") over 50-series tires (15") on long sweepers and turns.

what's the matter with your acceleration?
you'll give up ur airbag (and ur passenger's)
but will think twice about changing from sixteens to fifteens??!?!?

i dont think you will be 'racing' enough to really notice.

I have 15" 00' Si rims with Kumho 712's and 17" Racing Hart CP-10's with Parada's on them. I weighed both sets of rims and tires and I was surprised to see the CP-10's weighed 1.5 lbs. lighter than the 15" Si rims. What would the 17's do to my acceleration compared to my 15's? Would it be slower off the line?
which would essentially be the best for drag racing?
Why mess around with street tires for drag racing?

13" Bogarts when you get to the track if you're N/A.

If you want to run 22x8x13 slicks, you would have to get civic brakes
13" won't clear the brakes

If you're FI just go with 15s. Or if you don't want to go to Civic knuckles, go with 15s.

.....go with the smallest that will fit over the brakes.
Personally I suggest you keep your 16" spoons and get 2 15"x8" (?) rims for dragging - put slicks on them and be done.....
