Default Who has gone on long (1000 Mile+) trips in their R?

Im planning on taking a 1200 mile trip each way. And probably putting another 1500 miles while im there over the course of a month or so. Thought about tossing my bra on the car and hope for the best. I know thats alot of miles but I dont care, its just a car to me. Yes I wish I could keep her looking perfect forever with low miles but whats the fun in that? Who here has gone on long highway trips? Any downsides? Did it beat up the R pretty bad? If I can get ahold of a car where Im going I may just fly out there and use that, but I'm just planning ahead.

i drove from my house in dfw to chicago and back, 32 hour round trip.....the car was just fine besides the large amount of dead bugs stuck all over the front end, i would definately suggest throwing the bra on the front. but other then that i say take the R!!! alot more fun of a road trip car then any other car.

I think rock chips are all about luck. You could get one the first day you own the car or go 100,000 miles without anything major.

A good coat of wax helps protect the bumper surprisingly well.

Sometimes on long drives I apply Meguiars Nxt Generation rubber/ plastic protectant to the front bumper...this gives it a greasy film so bugs wipe right off.

Doodster... we get the point, its a car and you'll treat it like any other car. You don't need to tell us AGAIN! *** Holio x1000

As to answer your question.... NE caravan drove 1350 miles one way to Expo 5 in Nebraska. You will be fine. Change your oil, transmission fluid maybe if you don't know the history of when it was changed last. You'll be fine!

edit: WTF am i thinking... not only did we drive 1350 miles one way, we beat the **** out of our cars while there, and drove back!

I don't think I qualify here but I drove 470 miles in my R when I picked it up in Pittsburgh.

with the bra on you won't have to worry about the rock chips, i got one dent from the road chip and that was from a broken off piece of 2X4 that dented my CF spoon lip

I had a long drive after I bought mine. No problems here other than paranoia while it was parked in front of the motel.

Here all that matters is that keys aren't in the ignition.

I drove about 1200 or so miles back from Kansas City when I picked up my car. Other than bugs and a speeding ticket, it was a great trip.
