Cam gears not lining up... need help!!!
I was tensioning my timing belt and noticed the cam gears do not line up. I used the coat hanger trick to tension the timing belt because I didn't have a spring. When the crank pulley is at TDC, the cam gears do not line up. Is this normal? Does this interfere with the timing? What should I do? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pic isn't working. Ill assume you have stock gears.
Set Crank to TDC, Remove the timing belt and reset the cams. If you have adjustable gears reset them to 0 degree. Torque the tensioner to 33 ft lbs.
If you need a manual lmk.

Toss the belt on and see if that helps.

If you really are concerned... Remove the crank pully, and use the TDC indicator Cast into the oil pump housing (which is dowel pinned to the block), the crankshaft timing belt drive gear also has a corresponding TDC mark. The lower timing belt cover is, well... not as accurate as you believe it to be.
I guess i'll repeat myself... you don't have a problem.

cool. I just wanted to know if it is normal and if it is going to affect my timing. I plan to do a valve adjustment, but i was concerned.
