Default b16 with stock si distributor..timing issues.

I bought this car and it was already using the stock si dist. I can't get the timing past 18 degrees. Is this because of not having the b16 dist? The timing mark is the long line in front of (radiator side) the motor mount on the black timing belt cover correct? The one mark out by itself is 16 degree and the one in the middle in the group of three is 0, right? Sorry for my ignorance but I'm new to the B series engines.

So with the timing light on 0, I should see the one in the middle and with the light at 16, I should see the one by itself.

OK, but with the timing light set at 0 degree's, right? 16 degrees I should be on the one by itself.

So I've gathered .... but the car has been running fine untill a couple of days ago. I'm going to make sure I'm not a tooth off on the intake cam tomorrow.

from what i understand with the light set at 0 you want to see the middle marker and that is 16 the one all by itself is 0 the 3 together are 18 16 14
