Default Anyone have any info on hytech or smsp?

Im looking for info on the hytech exhaust, hytech header for itr, and smsp header and smsp exhaust (if they make one).
Are these exhaust loud, can they custom to whatever mods you have, such as cams, blah blah blah........
Anyone have any personally experience with them?

ps: Are these parts worth all the money?

Little info:
I either plan b20 bottom end fully built, with toda Bs or Jun 3s
or just head built with ctr pistons...

will theses exhaust systems benefit me?
Jordo

the hytech is made of stainless steel which wont rust, and the smsp is made of mild steel.

I don't know much about either, just that they're very good quality and performance. You get what you pay for. I think Hytech makes a "twin loop" system exhaust which will be quiet. I'm sure since it's a custom application you can get whatever you want. Same with SMSP. Dave from SMSP is very good also. He can pretty much make whatever you want also. Heard great things about his JDM spec headers and custom 2.5 exhaust systems. I think SMSP is a better value for your money. Check both out. You can't go wrong.

you have a choice between mild and stainless w/ smsp.

i believe he does exhaust installs on the car but does not offer a bolt on system yet.

however, an exhaust kit is available which you have to piece it together and weld.

I was giving a price quote of $800 for a custom JDM 4-1 header for my Si/b16a2. The price for the ITR has to be very close. I think, not sure the Hytech header is more..

Just IM Dave directly (SMSP) with questions about his products - he's very accessibly and really just a nice guy all around.

Big to Dave

Pat, who needs to keep bugging him about Brick exhausts

I think if David from smsp would raise his price to the same as hytech he could offer his header in stainless also. I think alot of people dont mind saving the 400.00 difference. Plus I 'll take Smsp's customer service over most any in the business.

But just like yours.......This is my opinion

here is the great header test. has both the headers you are talking about in it:
http://www.automotiveperformanceengi...om/header.html
also look at the spoon and Mugen results, compare those to the JDM DC header.
for your buildup path the Hytech sounds like the route you want to take.

Jordo, try http://www.hytechexhaust.com/ for Hytech Information, and you can IM "SMSP" on Honda-tech for info you need from him.. Like I said before you will benefit a great deal.

i remember there was once a time where you could buy the hytech for 1200. if you want one... buy it now.. cuz it never gets cheaper. the skill to weld stainless/material cost and the fact that it last longer is where the higher price comes from.

Btw, the hytech was not in the great header test. That was a modified mugen, by hytech.

They are both great headers and I think you will benifit greatly with your b20 set up.

Hmmm...hopefully I'll have mine by the end of the week...when you're a little shop that produces products for IRL, speed boats, drag cars, McLaren F1's...it takes a little while to get your product, but it's more than worth it once you see and use the HyTech products.
Austin - who is quite happy with his HyTech header

rumors abound, eh? Many of us have hytech headers, many also have SMS headers... Why not give the mfgr's a call and talk to them in person?

Are you saying that HyTech makes the header in the McLaren F1 road car? I hadn't heard that before.

There were 12 used cars recently imported into the states from Europe...HyTech was contracted to produce 12 headers for the importer....that's all of the information that I was given.

i THINK it was jeff at IB who tested both headers ..
he said the SMSP header's ground clearance was great...
while the hytech's header's clearance was okay(i'm assuming not as good as the
SMSP's clearance)

to those of you who have either header..how do you feel about the ground
clearance?

i want a hy-tech header sooo baddd....and when i do finally get it..
i don't wanna bottom out and waste my money.
i don't think hy-tech has a guarantee besides the horsepower...
