Starter will not turn over?
The engine doesn't start when you turn the key. The Instrument panel illuminates, the fan comes on, doors lock, but the starter doesn't turn over. I have cleaned any "extra" corrosion off the battery, cables and starter that I could find, anybody heard of this happening? I haven't checked yet but, I was wondering if maybe the relay switch has anything to do with this?

You can test the starter with a short jumper wire going from the big starter terminal, and jump it to the black white wire on the starter solenoid;
Be sure the trans is in neutral and parking brake on.
With a cheap test light you can check for power to the solenoid wire when the key is turned to crank position.
I just posted up a start circuit schematic for someone around here; I'll see if I can find it again.
EDIT: Check this link for the schematic;

This link shows a really crummy picture of the relay location;

one trick, is to have someone try to turn the car on and you tap the starter with like a screwdriver. does the car make any type of sound while turning it over. have you recently messed with you distributor at all.
Actually it doesn't even turn over. When turning the ignition to the "on" position all the lights and the fan shut off, after a few (half a dozen) tries she finally will fire up. And I never touched the distributor, but I did check it just to make sure, but no luck.

hmm. well at least you found it. that little minor detail of having a 5spd versus and automatic will help run down your problem. i just did a 5spd swap in my ride so i know that particular symptom. no power to the relay, no start. so either connection to the relay are bad or the relay is bad itself.
