If you are planning on replacing the factory 8" then you need to find:
1) A IB sub -- they usually have high .QTS and low FS
2) Shallow mounting depth (3" is pushing it because of the trunk bars)
3) Don't run it off the factory amp.
Here's what I'm doing with my factory 8"

Honestly, if I were you, I'd find a nice IB midbass (cough Morel and Peerless are great cough) driver and then get a real sub for low end in the trunk.
I tried to replace my factory 8" with a new 8" but it was WAY too deep (found out hard way). So now I am just getting a Q10D2 and solving it that way.

I just bought a new 2007 civic ex..no sub. I want to put in a sub without paying the 500plus bones to honda for a crappy one. where is the hookup? is there live power at the hookup site for a third party sub?
