I got mine from Ben@importparts.com

He sold it to me as cheap as I could find it on the web.

I respect your opinions, Tbone, as you seem very knowledgable...so I feel kinda silly asking, because you probably have a good reason...but why do you need 3"?

I'll give you guys a update on my set up....
Well as you guys know my new set up is a 13.1 cr 2.0(IB dominator), I sold the type r bottom end and went with a golden eagle sleeved gsr block, then put je slugs in it with eagle rods and a crv crank, then fully balanced and blueprinted. Most of you have seen my dpr head and ported skunk manifold with erics racing 68/70 mm tbody. What i'm getting at is that this thing is going to breath alot.
I ended up selling my Roger foo smsp header because it was designed on a 1.8 and I now have a 2.0 and also David had put me back on the waiting list again when I got this one because i was kiding about going 2.0. I have been nagging him ever since in every Im and email about my 2.0 header, it was all a joke though. Then last month I joked again about it and said hey dave wheres my new header and he replied 'well your next on the list(a 22 person after me list) I almost fell over cause I realized I needed to come up with alot of money.

So now it comes time to design my new header, Dave and I have spoke alot and decided through his reaserch that We will be going with a 2 5/8 collector instead of 2.5 . So I now need a larger exhaust.
We dont feel that I will lose much with the 3 inch system, plus its 3 od not Id. the only thing I'm a little worried about is the charge cooling to quickly and starting to dwell.

I cant type(2 fingers) as fast I can think and i cant put thought into typed words well but you get the idea. plus I need something quick and I want it to be mandrel bent ,quiet and look decent.
If there was a 2.5 system available I would prob neck down after the cat and go that route but there isnt.

I just read my responce and realized it doesnt give much into my decision to go 3 inch. Beleive me it wasnt a overnight decision andi have been talking to people for weeks about it. I also know someone with a similar set up to mine that has seen good results with the 3 inch system. But if its going to cost me 550. I might just buy the mandrel bends and go custom.

tom, when we did my friend's turbo crx we had midas custom weld a straight pipe (this was for race only...no street driving, so i don't wanna here about how its hurting the environment ) to the hf manifold. the exhaust came out really good. i can get the midas he went to if you want the info. just let me know.

I just put the thermal exhaust on my car and there is like a 1-2 mm gap between the two pipes. I have a 98 type R. Is this common. Should I try to put a flange inbetween or is it alright as it is. I dont think air is leaking out but I am not sure. Anyone else with a type r install the thermal? Let me know please!

Even with a 2.0 setup liek yours, the 3" is still too big.
i'd stick with a 2.5 still.

http://www.asylumms.com has the 3" for $499.
Also, check out Slow_ass_4drs group buy on mandrel bent exhusts. VERY cheap, but welding is needed. I'm gonna probably get in on this one myself

My collector on my header is 2.75, so it wouldnt make sence to go down to 2.5. anyhow this post is way old and my exhaust got welded up on tuesday. 2.75 stainless till the first turn , then necks up to 3.
