I was wondering why I was the first one to post, then I remembered a thread from a while back

A limited slip differential aids in traction when accelerating/cornering ... maybe you're confusing the LSD with ABS or EBD?
You powershifted from 4-3rd or you power-shifted while racing(prior to the downshift) ... ??? And powershifting wont really have any SERIOUS effects on the engine / trans provided you do it right... which is doubtful in this situation. Your clutch will be the first victim if you are shifting incorrectly... followed by the engine/trans suffering. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Sorry you wrecked your car! I just found it all very ironic. Hope your airbag isn't too expensive. Exactly which one deployed?

By ramming do you mean from behind? Or while merging from the side??. Sounds like MAJOR driver error to me. If your side airbag deployed it most likely will be pretty expensive to get a new one and have it installed as well. At least your okay though.
Don't forget about posting up those pics.
And THANK YOU for your contribution to increased insurance rates for the FG2!!

Side air bag cost, no idea. But if the side air bag went off you had to hit pretty hard, it would probably be cheaper to go through your insurance company instead of paying out of pocket, which sounds like what your doing. Good Luck, post some pics so our experts here can assess the damage.

heres the thing i didnt hit hard AT ALL there is no physicall damage to the car only the rims i hit the divider with my front rite rim and the airbag deployed for some strange reason. the only damage ive noticed on the car is an offset wheel balance, and some deep scratches on the rim.

If the airbag deployed you hit it hard enough to do some damage. If the wheel looks "off" its likely you've bent a control arm, hub, wheel or any other suspension component(s). Take it to an alignment rack ... only way to figure out exactly whats fucked up.

Theres doesnt have to be massive amounts of viewable damage, if the impact was hard enough, then the sensor behind the front bumper would have went off from the force. Though if THAT happend, you probably have massive suspension trauma.
yea i know that bridge and that exit very well...if your not careful an are driving fast and don't know the turn....you will be hitting the divider because its a blind turn and you don't see it until its right in front of you...i live in manhattan an go to nj alot an i have seen many accidents on that turn....good luck with your car an do get it checked out to make sure there is no damage to your suspension
Yay for people buying Si's before they learn how to drive. It makes the rest of us pay higher insurance rates.
Jon
PS: Drving school should be a must before any highschool or college aged person can have a car like this. Too much courage, too little brains.

I can imagine how hilarious the drivers around you found your antics...I mean just imagine a guy driving like a moron on the highway, swerving to miss a car that was probably going the speed limit, tapping the divider, and watching the airbag deploy while driving at full speed. lol.
Airbags generally cost upwards $750-$1500 a piece depending. Say if it's an air bag in the steering wheel, you gotta replace the clock spring, module, air bag, impact sensor, etc... They can ber very costly. Side airbags are probably not much different, haven't had the chance to work on one yet.

Well insurance may not be bad for you in Alabama, but try near a major city.

Yeah I almost totalled my SI back in December.... and STILL haven't gotten it back yet (56 days).
Side airbags are $1000 at least, so definitely go through insurance.
And it also does not take much of an impact to deploy airbags in this car. I took very little impact to the back RIGHT (passenger) side of my car, and the DRIVERS SIDE door airbag deployed. Thank you Honda sensors.

Maybe it went off to protect you from HITTING THE SIDE OF THE CAR YOU'RE ON??? If a car slams into you on one side, I woudl LOVE for an airbag to pop up and keep my skull of shattering into the window next to me. You should be thanking those honda sensors. What's the car going to do, pop open the airbag where no one is sitting?
