go to s2ki.com and search comptech vs vortech and it wil bring up a lot.. with the comptech it is only 6psi no upgrade it will void there warrenty. vortech is 8psi depending on year of your s2k and you can upgrade both are made to work on a stock s2k.. thats what there reps say.. i called both.. but o yeah you better look in to making the rear end stronger or it want be fast for to long. i;m going vortech after i change me rear end out. hope that helps
you wouldn't exactly have to change you rear end out after sc. it's all in how you drive your car. you can break stuff with a stock motor. I would just change the clutch and not launch the car. if you do, just make sure you have wheel spin. if there's too much load on anything you're bound to break something. just my .02.
thats good info but you can break the rear end just from driving.. lots of people have thats why they are buiding them stronger now.. since thats a weak link. i would rather fix it just to be sure that it is good before you boost and it bust .. my .03 cents

vortech unit is more ***** because it's running higher boost.
sorry not to be an **** but you need alot more research before jumping on this.
comptech is going out of businss..so there goes your warranty

I put nearly 50,000 supercharged miles on my first MY00 including about 30 track days befor I had problems with the ring and pinion. That's almost equivalent to driving two 24 Hours of Le Mans back to back. The final assembly (case, differential and final drive) will stand up to any sort of driving except dragging or dropping the clutch at high revs.
If the suspected culprit was a weak final assembly or a weak minded driver, I'd go for the driver as the guilty one.

More to the point of your question......
I had the first Comptech SC installed east of the Mississippi. I ran a total of 67,000 miles with it. Other than working out the bugs of the early model SC, it ran just great.
When I talked to the Vortech folks about buying one of their units, I got treated like a blazing idiot even though I probably knew more about putting FI onto an S2000 than they did or do. Iwould not buy from them if they were the only FI option available.
If you are only going to use the car on the street thereby avoiding the excessive heat problems of a turbo on the track, a straight forward turbo kit is a very viable option.
I'm waiting to see if either of the positive displacement SC units from BRP or Jackson are a reality. If so, I'll be the first in line to buy one.

Well considering that Comptech is going out of buisness, I'd go with a company that is still around.
Don't believe me? Check NSXprime about their SC's. They are pissed. Or, you could just call Comptech yourself.

Good looking out. I personally would go turbo, mainly due to the fact that the turbo kits out their aren't that much more than a full SC kit. Plus since most street turbos are making full boost earlier, you get max tq. at 4-5k rpm. that equals way more useable power when driving around. I doubt you've been in a SC s2k. before having your heart set on it you should really "expericence" it first.
Having owned high tq turbo cars in the past. i was only disappointed after riding in one. hence the reason i'm am turbo charged.
