i drove a 92 prelude with a jdm h22. i recently got into a wreck. it was the other guys fault so his insurance should pay for my car but its more than likely gonna be totalled since its a 92 and has alot of miles on the body! i dont want to lose all the money i've invested into my car but the "frame"(unibody) is bent. my friend got into a wreck and totalled his car and then salvaged it but it doesnt drive like it used to! should i buy it back from the insurance company and try to fix it or should i buy another lude and start all over again?... all the preludes ive found on autotrader are either stock or too riced out!! help me please!

 

you haven't given us enough details. what did you do to your car? how much did the insurance company give you? what are your goals?

 

When my 92 Si got totaled it was the other guys(well, lady) fault. when i sat down with the insurance adjuster i told him, "look, i've invested alot of time and money into my car and i would really not like to look back at this wreck that wasn't my fault and remember it as a event where I lost my car and the money i have invested into it." Along with a little bit of car talk about some car show he went to, He was very generous pricing out everything. I ended up profiting over $1000 from the wreck. You just gotta hope for a nice adjuster I guess. Good Luck

 

if u cant keep ur car, are there parts that u could take off to use on another car if u were to buy another lude? bc if so then all those stock preludes u said u saw on autotrader is exactly wut u want. ur better off startin with a nice stock car than with a car that was some1 elses beat machine

 

thanks! i guess i'll just have to wait untill they give me a price B4 i'll know what to do! the only thing wrong is my front bumper, jdm headlights, and radiator are crushed and my frame is bent but my engine is okay. if i can find a stock prelude for the right price i can just kinda start over. but i rather get the money back that i've invested. honda3431 did you have to show all receipts to the insurance people? how much did u get back and what mods did u do 2 your car?.. oh and what insurance company did u have to deal with? thanks

 

if you can show reciepts and really grease em up with a hardtimes story youll end up walking with some extra money....i got an ins company to do that cause some sweet driver they insured ruined a perfectly good black eg coupe i spent 3 months looking for

 

Since it wasn't your fault tell the insurance company that u want 5,*** dollars and the car back. I did it with my 95 si vtec. They don't like the idea at fist thn after a week or two of paying for car rental and impound fee then they will come around. I got 5,500 for my si vtec. And they gave me the car back motor was still fine it just messed up the bumper and fender and the airbags went of thats its. I drove it after the wreck.

 

what exactly do you have done to the car? if there are quite a few modifications done, especially to the motor it may be best to buy it back. then you can decide if you want to fix it up with the extra cash or part it out and squeeze as much as you can out of it.
