WOW! $5k markup & $30k SI
stopped by stevens creek honda late yesterday evening after playing a little 3/6 hold em at the local casino.
couldnt believe how many SI's they had. i counted 1 coupe and 6 sedans. i was shocked when i approached and every single SI and sticker had "added dealer markup" $4,995
how absurd is that?!
to top it off there was a black nhbp sedan that read msrp (navi), wheel locks $95, leather $1,895, added dealer markup $4,995 the sticker was just over $30K
the leather actually looked really nice but not my style
cant believe some dealers are still doing this nonsense!!!

Unfortunately, I have seen a number of people post that they paid over MSRP. Not just with this dealer. They were thinking they had to pay that amount. THAT IS NOT TRUE.

You have to realize that dealers can sell a vehicle for whatever the customer will pay for it. That's why you either tell them a better price and have them accept that, or you just walk away.

oh for sure! i have my fiji on order...had to do some digging to get msrp and hoping to get even a little lower. just posting my findings, what a shame...i for one would never want to buy a car from a dealer who plays the mark up game. suer they may get it but it just shows the way they choose to sell cars and do business
getting over MSRP on an 06 coupe back in the beginning of 06 was possible. Getting over MSRP now on sedans is still possible. But no one should be dumb enough to pay over msrp for a coupe anymore. you can get a barely used 06 for 19k, just have to wonder how 'used' it is.

You must be talking about Garden City. I play 7 card Hi/Lo there once in a while. Graden City is like 5 miles from my house (towards Cupertino). lol
Anyway, I got my 2006 NHBP SI Coup at Stevens Creek Honda. Yes, I paid over MSRP, but it was not a big deal to me.
I had been wanting the new SI for several months, but no one had it. I drove into the place with my 2001 Civic DX, to make an appointment to get my tranny fluid changed and there it was. They had just got it the night before. I knew I was screwed the moment I saw it, because I know I was not leaving without it.
The car had the full body kit and fogs, and it was priced at $26K. After 3 hours haggling over the price and the trade-in value for my car and the warranty, I ended up paying $24K. This included a 5 year, 100K full warranty (which I have pretty much voided with my mods), and got $7,500 for my DX. They did not want to move on the price. $2K was all they would give. I tried getting them lower, but they would not deal because they knew they could sell it for more. They ended up giving me more for my DX then they wanted too, to close the deal.
Did I pay too much? Maybe, but I really wanted the car. To me, it was worth it and thats what is important to me. You know the area, there is a lot of money in that area. Back when I bought it, you never saw another SI anywhere around. I feel ok about the deal I got because I know they would have gotten it from someone else.
You might think they have over priced their current inventory of SI's, but trust me, they will sell them and they will get pretty darn close to what they are asking.
Congrats on your new wheels, you will love this car.

That's absolutely outrageous! You can get an EVO, Nissan 350Z, and even an Infiniti G35 for $30K. The Si is a badass car, but IMO these dealers are marking them up waaay too much.

Look around and you'll find them for a good price.
When I started looking, dealerships were giving me a lot of BS about "special" vehicle this, high demand that and raising prices based on these positions. Though once you do research you'll find that SIs are quite plentiful and fulfill a small market where only a minute portion of the population will remotely be interested.
I've went to dealerships with 4-5 Si's, coupes and sedans, sitting on the lot with no buyers (and we're talking about sitting on the lot for at least three to four weeks here). I was scouring and waiting for my color
Interesting thing was I spoke with some of the salesmen and they were trying to convince me that the car was in high demand and for that reason, the cars had markups!
Well, I suppose if you're desperate you'll probably buy at whatever prices but a little patience goes a long way.

I got to honda dealers in my area that have markups on any damm honda they have. I look at it. I sit in it. I press some buttons, get the dealer happythat I am going to buy it then I say.....I will be back with my wife in about an hour. I give them my cell phone number too. Well they call back in like 2 hours and I tell them.....well I am at XXX honda dealer right now buying XXX car . They ask how come I did not go with them and I say.... " You lost a deal with your absurd MARKUP since XXX honda dealer had none"
yep garden city it was
i hear what your saying bud. and you knew what you wanted and were going to pay. and sounds like you got a pretty good deal especially since the cars were jsut hitting the lot. i just find it wrong for dealerships to put a $5k markup on the car. sure i understand supply and demand and theres a sucker for every seat but just not the dealership i would want to do business with.
i ordered my si through manly honda in santa rosa. hit up paul in internet sales
side note- i look forward to checking out your civic one of these weekends

I remember there was a post last year about a 5K markup in California but, that was almost a year ago for crying out loud. That's just freaking silly, I hope that *** hat dealership sells ZERO Si's off their lot.

I've seen used fits going for 22k online. Go to cars.com and search for used fits.... get ready to be shocked.

I got offered invoice on an Si sedan in MI, but unfortunately, I am not financially ready to make the purchase yet. Go look around and you will find people more willing to bargain. Also, playing dealerships off of each other generally works.
