LSDs on Integras Pros/Cons
I was just wondering what are the advantages of installing an LSD on an Integra or getting a JDM Type R tranny w/LSD? I am asking this because a friend of mine said that it will be a waste of money since it will cut my top end power.
The pros are way better than the cons.
It isn't going to cut your top end speed by enough to worry about. Woo hoo 4 mph. If you want that extra mph, add some power.
Any driving condition it is ogin to benefit. Snow, rain, etc. You will have better traction.

. In regards to the JDM tranny, this debate in the ITR section has been milled over time and time again. I don't know what Integra you plan on putting this in so I couldn't go over the gear ratios. I do know that when comparing the final drive of the JDM R tranny to the USDM R tranny, the differences are still minimal.
Acceleration will be very slightly better through the first few gears, but your top end will also drop off slightly. In the Best Motoring video, as an example, they tested two R's with both final drives in a head to head battle. Totally predictable. The R with the 4.75 accelated slightly faster than the other, but near the end the R with the 4.40 caught up and the both netted the same exact 1/4 mile times.
As an example, driving in fifth gear...at freeway speeds the difference would be a few hundred RPM higher over the USDM R tranny.
You also can't go wrong with an LSD. Promise.

i have the JDM R 4.7 FD tranny. makes city street cruising very enjoyable. i love it. i rip thru VTEC real fast. you'll definitely feel that "umph" when you're stepping on the gas. the only downfall is that if you like to drag, after 3rd gear, itll be a drop off into 4th as the gear ratio turns into the GSR's. as for the LSD, it gets better for corners and taking off. so yeah the JDM R tranny is a good investment if u want the quicker acceleration in the street. the top end speed will max out faster.. but hey.. would u rather get to 120 mph in 5 second or get to 140 mph in 20 seconds? besides.. who cruises in the 140 mph zone ne ways
