No one liked the EP hatch but everyone loves these things.

Price is lower, you can "fit" more inside (the magic seat is quite useful). Gas mileage is better.

Basically the Fit is better at its "mission" than the EP3 was.
The EP Si was supposed to be "sporty" and while not bad, it wasnt that quick nor did it handle that great (keep in mind I love EP3s). Plus it lacked the 8000rpm redline that people loved in sporty hondas. The 'Minivan' look was polarizing.
The Fit is supposed to be economical and practical. It gets very good milage, is peerless as far as cargo room and flexibility in its class. High standard levels of saftey equipment. Toss in good handling and a strong fun to drive ratio and you have a winner.
Also it doesnt hurt the MSRP on the Fit is a good $5000 less, a very significant difference on a sub-$20,000 car.

I'm starting to like it too. I want to get it cause I have a family, and 4doors is a most! LOL! It's a pain to get them out of my DC5, plus they dirty the sits, so a 4dr is a most and it is cheap too.
I have to wait till April to get one in 5 speed stick.

My two cents.
I think that a lot of us on here are starting to mature in ways that differ from our older outlooks and expectations of vehicles. The term "economical" makes more sense then the terms "horse and torque" did years before. What I mean is that we used to buy cars that went fast and made noise and we didn't care about things like gas mileage or hauling around a family and pets. Now we have children and buy groceries and if we don't yet, well, we are planning on it.
Bottom line is... these cars make more sense in our high priced gas, inflation, and day to day living life styles. We aren't getting younger and speeding tickets now matter.
These cars look cool, to those like myself, whom always admired the hatch. Yet they are a bit more practical for our now older ways.
Again... this is just my two cents on the situation.
I think they look pimp as hell when done up nice like! Woo Wee!

I agree with jo3blo3. Times have changed and so has my style. I've always been big on looks rather than HP so the Fit was a great deal for me. I enjoy folding down the rear seats and taking my dog for a spin. I've done the same when making trips to the home depot, this little car is very versitile! I love it!
i had an ep and for a family it's hard to put a baby back there. my friend used to do that. the extra 2 doors make a huge difference.
btw I parked next to an EP the other day. the roofline of a Fit is definitely much taller so it's more spacious as well.

The EP was too big/heavy and initially, the front strut setup didn't accommodate much of a drop without some headaches/huge loos of suspension travel.
Probably a great car for a stock daily driver, but the aftermarket pretty much ignored it.

wrong that it was ignored, many companys made parts for the EP3.
I loved the EP3 body style which is why i love the GD3, i just dont think the EP was built as well (personal experience)

There is a strong aftermarket following for GD3 and it will remain strong after they change the body style. Unfortunately most JDM GD3 suspension parts will not bolt on directly and most aero parts requires front JDM conversion(same as DC2). Companys are starting or has been releasing parts for the USDM vehicle. K20 mounts kits are on the way. Fit has been around Asia market for several years and just now avaliable to North America. So expect alittle more time for us to catch up.
I thought this car was ugly as hell UNTIL I saw the JDM version
Funny how the biggest auto market country for any manufacture manage to get the most ugliest version everytime.

I'm not saying it's a bad car. However, I rarely see a stock EM1 but I rarely see a modded EP3.
In the big picture, it wasn't popular with tuners. Even the magazines didn't do too much w/ them in terms of projects or feature cars.
I think the fit will get way more attention.

Agreed. The EP, which is still a good car IMHO, didn't live up to previous iterations of the Si. The fit does what it was intedend, and does it well.

Im just saying that a lot of the fits Ive seen so far are all torn apart with K20s and turbos. Why not do that with an EP
I do agree about the sitty suspension on the ep
I do agree about the sitty suspension on the ep
i got it because of all the reasons it should be had
1. its been out for a few years and everyone raves about it
2. its comfy, waaaay comfy, everything has a place and it "fits" perfect
3. i like 300+ miles to a tank, and less than $25 to fill it
4. it handles extremely well stock, and put a few bars on it, and its sticks
5. upgrades upgrades upgrades , js racing, skunk2 , tanabe , the list goes on, if you feel the need to add things or customize you can do it for days
6. swap - for the ricer in all of us and the need for a lil speed , mounts have been in production for a k swap for a while, and if you are a baller and you like to do big things, the k swap is very possible
7. it has 4 doors , its roomy and the lil space in the back is just right
8. insurance is cheap . . its a 5 door
9. it has 4 doors
i can go on and on, but everyone is right, it set its image low and delivered high , for what it is it perfect lil car
i swore off Si's i love them, i wanted one sooooo bad, but having them always messed with, and to save cash, it stepped into what spoon called the perfect lil track car, and fell in love
its not ment for speed, although getting to 80 aint no problem, its not ment to go out and rave around with the ricer boys, although they get confussed on the highway as to what it is
all in all Honda gave us the best lil econo car !!!
