Default Putting load on motor

I was told for proper engine break in you must put a load on the motor. What does that exactly mean ?

I have read that several builders actually have a better way to set your piston rings during a break in. You do a few runs with the motor warm, 1st 25% throttle, next run 50% throttle, 3rd 75% throttle, 4th 100% throttle, then change oil and drive it like normal. I have not had any experience with this in cars but when i rebuilt my motorcycle that was the break in I did and the bike pulls like a horse and doesnt burn any oil. I cant remember but I know there is a link on the forum for the article from a very good tuner that recommended that break in.

there are tons of methods in which to break in a motor. some engine builders say to run it like you stole it, and others say baby it for a few thousand miles. it really depends on which you decide on doing.

if you search it on google there are tons of different methods. i would pick the one coming from the most reputable source.

i dogged mine as soon as i finished building it and let it warm up. I always let my car warm up all the way before driving.
7k miles later still running strong

load is the amount of throttle percentage being put on the engine.

load and TPS are positively correlated.

do you let it idle until it reaches operating temp? or drive conservatively until it warms up and then rip it into vtec?
