Default How to talk down the price from a S2000 dealer?

Please list some of the key elements I should know for a S2000 in LA (going to there this weekend)

the dealer has an asking price 16,900 for a 2001 white S2000 with red/blk interior and 75,704 miles on it.

I'm hoping to get it with 15,000 base on the reasons such as: high miles, plastic rear window, bad seasons (winter) for conv, paying 10,000 downpayment, and wish to get it today.

Anyone is welcome to help!

Make sure you check the tires, a lot of times they are good in the front and worn out in the rear. If you can look under the bottom compartment in the trunk for water and rust. Thats about it. You probably won't get them to come down much for the plastic window, unless its cracked or something.

I'm picking up my S2000 today, and got the dealer down substantially on the price.

My best advice, show confidence, and don't dick around. The worst that can happen with too low of an offer is they will say no.

Good luck

threaten to walk out... salesman are trained to avoid that at all costs. if you're not happy, tell them you're leaving. if they let you leave, expletive em, they'll probably end up calling you shortly thereafter if you're not asking for too much.

if you do end up picking up the s i have my floormats off my last s2k.
and on the pricing, it sounds to me like they are selling it to you for the book value. i bet if you stick around there long enough and complain as much as you can, the sale's man will take your offer. they are trained to not let you walk out the door( and if they do they give you a sale's card) thus they are also trained to not walk away from a customer.
i ripped off my dealership on an 01' s2k worth 18k and bought it for 15.5 w/ 70k miles. they said they made no money off the car it was an advertising error.
i dont think you could argue any less than 16k for the car, as tax return seaon and convertible fever is approaching. gpw w/ red black interior is rare to find ( and is what i want) i wouldnt pass up on it.

Your spending the money, you have the control. The ability to walk away is your best bargaining chip. G/L!

Just take the friendly approach and tell them that you can only afford $15k and that you're really not trying to lowball them. Don't forget that you don't need that particular one and there are others out there.

it's called a misprint. they can't raise the price on you it doesn't matter. that's like saying if a car is sold for a certain amount and they just want more money for it they can raise the price whenever they want. for them

look you walk right up to the price and you start calling it an *******, talk about its mother etc. and then it will drop. That is how you "talk down" a price
