Put my amp under passenger seat?
I am wondering what is the best location to install my amplifier in my 1999 Accord EX 4-door? In my truck, I had a bench seat so it fit perfectly underneath (well once you removed the honkering thing). The passenger seat in my car looks to come out with just the four bolts. Is this where you folks put yours?
Moreover, in mounting it. Does it need to be screwed into the floor? Or can it just sit beneath the seat? Maybe wedge it between the seat rails? I don't want to tear up my carpet and hack up my car's floor if I don't have to. It was one thing to do that in my 27 year old truck, its another in this cherry car.
Also, my trunk will soon be occupied by two RF Punch 10s and an amp, so I don't think I want to put it back there.

So the trunk is the best place for both my amps? I just thought that wasn't very practical, running power wire all the way to the back and then running speaker wires all the way to the front.
IF YOUR AMP FITS THERE, IT'S DEFINETELY A GOOD PLACE TO MOUNT IT IN A 6TH GEN. THAT'S WHERE i MOUNTED MY PPI 4 CHANNEL AMP, AND THE CROSSOVERS TOO.
This should probably be in the audio/video forum but no biggy.
If it will fit under the seat, then thats a perfect place to mount it. Many amps are too big so the trunk is usually the next best (or most practical) place.
As far as mounting goes, just screw the amp to a 3/4" (or similar size) piece of wood and mount that to the floor.

I wouldent put it under the back seat. Theres very little air to circulate around. Your best bet is, if you want to have it in the cabin, is to mount it under the passenger seat. The trunk is also a perfectly fine place. IF you plan to still mount it under the back seat, mak sure that you have atleast 1 inch of room around the amp for air circulation.

Good advice, On amp installs try not to ground out the amp by mounting it to the chassie by grounding out the amp body. This is a easy way to induce noice into your system. Most amps will not care but some do. If you can mount the amp under your seat go for it. It will also help prevent theft by a smash and grab attempt. Atleast you will not loose the amp.

No, I don't want to put it under the back seat. I was planning on putting it under the passenger front seat.
In my truck we had the wood mounting setup, it worked very well.
Do I need to pull the carpet all the way out and cut an entire section, or could I cut small areas for the mounting of the wood, say a square inch in four spots? Or should I just put it in the trunk and be done with it?
Sorry if this should have been in A/V, but I thought it was best-suited in the vehicle-specific area since opinions would change based on the model of the car.

How bout this... I dont know if this is gonna be ok. I would put it below the passenger's glove box, like where the vents for your feet goes. and put some neons over there to make it look cool. IDK. But I like the under the seat.
That is what I've always believed, but I didn't know if you guys had some other suggestion. I still am curious about the carpeting. Just cut a couple really small holes for each of the mounting points and fish the wiring underneath the carpet?
i have my speaker amp under my pass. side seat. I poked one hole under the seat for the rca's power and remote wires. you can't tell its there, and air is circulated over it b/c of the vents. plus my amp has an internal fan. it will work fine.
I have only a Sub amp and no speaker amp in my 92 accord, and I just have it under the drivers seat, its not mounted to anything and it sits securely just fine. I havent had any problems with that at all... the only advantage I can see in mounting it is prevention of a simple grab from a thief, otherwise for me having it unmounted lets me take it in and out of my car with ease. hope this helps!
