Default anyone made their own balance shaft removal kit??

so ive got this oil pump sitting here. the block ive got already has the balance shafts removed from it so im not about to replace them, and i was thinking, how hard can it be to close everything off. just wondering if anyone has done this, or attempted to. ive got access to a CNC and a lathe, and the only material i would have to buy would be a small sheet of aluminum. and ive been learning about press fits in one of my classes so i could actually engineer the press fit plug. just wondering if anyone has tried this yet?

Press fits are easy. Make it .001" oversize, degrease and install using Loctite 603.

Hell you could RTV everything over instead of machining anything. The bigger concern is rotating all the BS bearings 90˚ to cut off oil to unused orifices to keep your oil pressure. It a lot of work to lose 8 pounds and gain 3hp though.

well i figure itll take all of 20mins on the lathe to make the plug. about 40mins to make the cover plate thing out of the sheet and drill holes. and as far as the orifices, i was going to plug those somehow or another. i havent looked into the best way to do that, but i guess since i know im never going to put them back in i could have someone drop a bead of weld if i remove the bearings. **** even some A/B epoxy might work?

It'd be a tight fit to get in there with a stinger to weld them. I would steer away fro JB Weld though. Do whatever. It's still a lot of work for minimal gains. If you have upgraded mounts the added vibration is annoying too. Just my opinion though.

i've made some block off plates for the one big cover on a cnc machine, als got an easy plug for the other side thats actualy with a rubber seal that works flawless, then i've had 4 dowel pins made thae block off all the oil passages that you need to , its just like keizen speeds but its a whold lot cheaper, if your interested let me know i can sell you one for $65 pluss shipping, ill pust pics for you soon, im still gouin to modify my origional block off plates a lil but i still have a bunch of the ones i already made

Lol. It took me a while to notice that remark, Blake.

I have one car that vibrates just fine and I don't mind at all (3000 rpm will numb your nuts after a while), it's got no stereo, no AC, no heater, no windows, no sunroof, no doors, no cruise control, no power steering, and no upholsertry. I think I deserve a few ammenities in the Prelude. Besides, I've removed 250 pounds from the 'Lude. I can afford to run the balance shafts.

Theres another way of doing it without turning your bearings. if you separate your main caps from your girdle you can make up more plugs to block the oil passages to the bearings

set screws might work in the oiling holes, if you have space to get in there.

Rattles are my worst enemy, I hayt them, and having an auto->manual prelude they hate me too.
