Okay, so the other day i was looking up for a new motor and I stumbled upon a f20b for a good price. The down fall was that it had an automatic transmision. So upon more research i found out that you can put a h22a. Now i need mounts for all of them to go in and work. So if a h series tranny could fit a f series couldn't the mount fit also? Oh yeah i have a 97 civic h/b

 

all the f20b is, is just a destroked h22a, well with higher compression, and better cams!. if you throw an h22 tranny or f series tranny all the mounts are interchangable. so if you have a hasport mount kit for h22 in an ek then yes itll work

 

So the f20b has less stroke than H22 so it would be able to rev higher? Isn't that the downfall to the F22 and H22 motor?
More stroke = less revs or am I off track on this.

 

Think about rod-stroke ratio

the B16B is a destroked B18C and revs higher due to a reduction in piston to cylinder wall speed.

think about it like this

you have two 1 cyl motors at 500cc displacement

One motor has a small bore with a long stroke. The other a larger bore with a small stroke. At one revolution the motor with the longer stroke will have to move the piston up and down a greater distance but in the same amount of time. So the piston moves at a greater velocity while the crank retains the same speed at the motor with the short stroke and a larger bore.

The motor with a larger stroke will produce more low end torque due to the faster movement of the piston creating a stronger deeper vaccuum then the motor with the shorter stroke and the larger bore. The motor with the larger bore will be better for revving higher and producing more total output power.
