if you can afford it get a B18C1. it is a great motor to build. if you can't afford it, then get a B16A that is a second gen.

You should be able to turbo a SOHC VTEC for about 5k. Run 13s.

Depends on what your plans for the car are. What is your budget? Do you plan on autoXing? Track only? Street only? SHow only? If you can afford a B18C1, go for it, it's the most supported engine in the market. If not, any other B-series engine will do or you can just get the engine that originally came with it, the D16.

You can have a/c in any 5th gen civic with a B series motor. You have to
use the Del Sol dohc vtec a/c mount. It has a P54 stamp on it. This is
the only one that will mount the compressor properly. You can use all the
stock civic a/c components.

For 5 g's get the B18C and mod it.

I found my B18C1 for a lot less than $5K. For that much, you can find a B18C5.
