T belt gear ? techs only
alright guys, heres the deal. i have a 98 OBD2 GSR motor that im puttin together. its goin into a OBD1 car. so i ordered a OBD1 oil pump. problem is that the OBD2 T belt gear has teeth on it for the crank angle sensor. the teeth hit on the oil pump gear housing. should i have the teeth cut off the T belt gear so it will fit or do ya think i should cut the oil pump housing. if i cut the oil pump it would still work just fine but b clearanced for the gear to fit on. the other option is to turn the T belt gear backwards. im just bein impatient, but thought i would ask for techs opinions. thanx.
it was more expensive and its goin into a OBD1 car so the CAS is not needed. i got the motor together, just need to figure out my options. i think ill just take it to a machine shop and have them put it on a lathe and cut off the teeth. it just barely doesnt fit. id gues 1/4 inch would allow enough clearance.
you can order the other timing belt gear from the OBD1 engine. you need the sproket and the 2 guide plate/washers that keep the belt in place.......
