Default Carb Header Vs. Race Header???

How much difference is there? Power, price, availability? I live in Louisiana where you have to actually drive like an ******* to get a ticket, they could care less if you ran open header. All the damn rednecks here just encourage it. There is acually a 9 second Camaro that rolls around town with no hood, huge slicks, and open header! Its so badass! The cops dont give a f**k! But anyway, Where do I get a race header anyway? I just looked on eBay and they're not there.

what are you talking when you say a race header?

there are headers that are carb certified and headers that aren't. A hytech, smsp, rage, etc are much better than carb headers

You dont need to worry about CARB here in La. Check the markeplace for some good deals, dont expect huge power gains though.

a "race" header alone wont give you big gains. when added to a built engine with cams, internals, etc. you can see them really shine.

Default $600-$1200?!?!?!?

C'mon, is that seriously worth it? Would I even be able to tell a difference between a DC and one of those? ****, would I be able to tell a difference in an eBay headers and any other header? A while back a friend of mine got a full exhaust ran on his Civic. He was supose to get a GReddy header , 2.5" piping and a MagnaFlow cat-back. The guy installed a bullshit $60 header instead. We didnt realize this for a day or two. We went back up there and got a DC header put on and we couldnt tell a difference. His 1/4 mile time didnt even show a difference. But anyway, I plan on keepin my car internally stock for a while. How much difference is there gunna be in a full eBay exhaust and a decent exhaust?(Header back)

when comparing many mass produced headers like dc or greddy with their small diameter primaries and collectors, it's like night and day when you switch to a quality "race" header and matching exhaust. of course this is all dependant on other mods you have.

if you have no plans for internals, a dc or similar does the job fine. when you start upping the compression and throw in big cams, you want to make the engine inhale and exhale as efficiently as possible.

Like with pretty much everything in life you get what you pay for.

A header is a header without the proper mods to effectively move the exhaust out of your engine.
