Default just bought crx rough idle cant keep highway speeds

hello everyone tonight i picked up a 1990 crx dx with 80k original miles. this thing has a slightly rough idle but the bad part is it cant keep up on the highway acceleration is almost non existant, my old geo metro was alot quicker, thers got to be something wrong it wouldent go up hills on the highway faster than 45 miles per hour and would never rev about 4.5k even if i shifted into second going 45 there is something wrong with it im thinking that it may be running on 3 cylinders, my camaro when it was running on 6 out of 8 was still running better then this one is but the symtoms were similar any suggestions? thank you for your help im willing to spend some money on this car seeing as it only has 80k it shoud go another 120k atleast, o ya the guy i got it from said it sat for 6 months but ran fine befor that, so tommorrow im going to get new spark plugs and wires and see if that helps any

Yes it sounds like plugs and wires. Make sure the gap on the plugs are 1.0 mm. Also would be a good idea to clean your injectors.

Well the easiest way is to buy some injector cleaner from your local autoparts store and follow the directions on the bottle.

ok that sounds good im happy with what it is if i get it running right, its my daily driver now i couldent afford gas with the camaro, thanks for the help ill do it tommorrow also it may be leaking coolant from its brand new radiator so it may be the hose? ill pick up 2 of those tommorrow also for the total of $11.99 also the fuel tank me have a slight leak, how difficult is that to replace the gas tank in one of these clown cars, also can is it possible to seal it

Replacing the gas tank is not very hard, but it is not simple either. I had a gas tank leak in a 91 Integra and it ran fine until I changed it. Also if it is leaking coolant you would know. Are there any puddles underneath the car? Does it smell like coolant while driving?

Also, try replacing the air and fuel filters. If one of these is clogged up the engine will run very badly indeed. As a matter of fact, clean out the airbox while you are in there replacing the filter, sometimes it can get clogged up with crap; especially if the car has been sitting. Mice tend to nest in places like that.
