WTF???? Wrecks and CEL's
What a great week its been...first my hsuband drives the integra into a telephone pole and now on my way home from work the CEL in the Si came on while i was trying to think happy thoughts about the whole situation!! ANd i guess our fedex truck is flashing water and oil lights too damnit ><;;;;;;; anybody have any clue why a car with 10k miles would through a CEL??? its was rainy and foggy tonight, oil was changed saturday and it still ran fine all the way home (least i didnt get stranded) i'm going to take it up to the dealer in the morning but that means missing time form work...this is why i bought a new car so this wasnt supposed to happen
nope nothing...brian thinks its just a fluke...my old 90 DA did that once...CEL came on and when i turned off the car and restarted it never came on ever after that...but i might still stop at the dealership tomarrow even if it doesnt come back on
i hope not....like i said its why i bought a brand new car so i wouldnt have to worry about this crap...but ill just take it up there super early if it comes on again...because when it came on the engine and everything ran fine

Hopefully it's just a loose connection somewhere...
Sometimes shiz happens though, like for example my parents new Jetta a few years back had 2 bad O2 sensors

After that oil change, did you reset the oil percentage?

I don't think that would cause a CEL. It would just leave the maintenance minder light on (the wrench). But I could be wrong.

thats why i bought a brand new car so i wouldn;t have to ever open my hood and try to "guess" what the problem is...why should i have to check all that crap on a 10k mile car?....ill let the free warranty take care of it tomarrow

werid on the cel , did you do anything to the car that might of caused it? anything? but yea dont even bother to check under the hood thats why u have a warranty take it up to stealership
oh when i went to get gas today, the CEL finally turned off when i started it back up so i guess it was the cap...but its weird how i drove around for almost a week before it ifnally triggered the CEL..so im gonna cancel my appt tomarrow i guess
you might not wanna cancel that app there yet , when its the gas cap shouldnt their also be another light??? why only the cel ? you should atlest go 2 auto zone scan your car see if anything pops up or show up to the dealer ,, better be safe then sorry

because its the CEL light that comes on if the gas isnt on all the way...something about gases...seen it on all the new cars....CEL was on all day yesterday and the day before until i filled up with gas...so im not worried about unless it comes on again...didn really want to do it today anyways

its not the amount of gas its how tight the cap is...im trying to think who filled up tank last, me or brian, because i always try to turn the cap until it clicks a few times

Yep, usually it's 3 clicks or so for it to guarentee not throw a CEL but I've never had a problem with it. My guess is it was just a fluke, still have them pull the code - I believe they're stored in memory for a time - to see what it was

Check Fuel Cap message should appear if the cap is loose and it wont turn on the MIL for 2 drive cycles. Your problem lies elsewhere.
If you never noticed the message then refueling and tightening the cap and driving to allow the evap monitor to run and it didnt detect any leaks it wouldve turned off the mil. Still, you didnt mention fuel cap msg.
Keep the appointment and have the courtesy shuttle take you to work or get a loaner/rental on the dealership.
