whats your recomendation for tungsten for 1/16-1/8 aluminum? size and type

Default whats your recomendation for tungsten for 1/16-1/8 aluminum? size and type

Newby to tig welding. Mild steel is doing ok but alum. is just not gettin it. What the best suggestions for tungsten from the pros? Any help is good help Thanks Toby

I've never used any tungsten other than 3/32 red. You can use it on SS, MS, AL, Copper, cast iron, cast steel etc etc and so on from thin stuff (22ga) all the way until it blows the hell up..which is awsome by the way.

This isn't just me btw. Loads of welders do this including some of the best welders on this site. RMF being one of them.

I use 3/32 blue or 1/8 blue if its real thick I have a inverter machine though which is why i dont use red

If you have a transformer machine use zirconiated or red, inverter machines use lanthanated or ceriated.

I typically run a green 1/8th in Tungsten. I sharpen it to a sharp point and let if round off on its own.
