replacement for AP1 OEM rear tires. Need something cheap until i get rims
front tires look great, but the s2000 im picking up has almost bald OEM S02 tires in the rear on the stock wheels.
i want to replace the rear tires with something inexpensive that gives good dry traction and decent traction in the rain
i will be buying some VOLKS with new rubber in the summer, but need something to hold me off until then
what do you suggest?

with nothing in mind but price, the kumho ecsta 711 is definately a tire i see alot of for ballers on a budget. but yokohama es100's are decent for the money. i had a few friends at the local honda dealerships here, and they would call me whenever they got used s2k tires. so after my first set of new s03's, i went with used tires. but rears will always go quick.
I had the same issue as you, needed something to get me through the Indiana winter
. Didn't want to mix up brands so I ended up getting a set of Bridgestone Potenza G009's for the back, found them at a local tire store for about what they go for online and have done great in the snow so far. Hope that helps

Pick up a pair of Potenza RE050A's on tirerack, they have (i think they still are) them on sale for $85 a corner for the rears. There is a *small* size difference on the rear between a s02 and re050a but its negligible.

You guys serious? I was talking to a dealer and he explained to me that the prices of tires were ridiculous for this car. I thought "no way"...didn't really fully believe him, but I never checked and so what he told me has always been my only reference.
So anyways, I bought S2000 this weekend with the understanding that a tire change will cost $1200, and you have to do it every 2000 miles. I said *** it I'll ear Raman noodles if need be, but I'll get it.
Now you guys telling me it's no different than tires for my CRX. I just tanked it up for the first time, too, and it cost me $5 more than usual.
Fuking brilliant.

You're mistaking the RE050A for the OEM AP2 RE050. The "A" is for all season with better wet traction, the OEMs are high-perf summer tires for the dry. Look at the difference in treadwear.
A good set of tires should only cost you $600-$800.

cool, so your definition of ballers is the same as mine, they're complete morons. the 711 is probably the worst tire made by anyone.
+1 for re050As, great tires.
