Default Heavily modifed Texas ITR owners

I've been looking at a few Texas state sites regarding emissions and noticed they require testing (unlike here in FL)

My car would probably fail inspection and just wanted to know what you guys are doing to keep your cars legal...

Looking to move to Carrollton which is right outside of Dallas. I'm applying to work for the Dallas PD and would like to be somewhat near Dallas...

How to bypass emissions testing in Texassss....

1) Buy another cluster.
2) Visit this site: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/v...leage
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
Low Mileage Waiver
There is a low mileage exemption for motorists who drive less than 5000 miles/year. To qualify for this exemption you must:

1. Fail both the initial test and free retest
2. Incur $100 of emissions related repairs
3. Drive less than 5,000 miles/year
</TD></TR></TABLE>

3) Swap un-used cluster and go get your emission done and get the exemption.
4) Put the god awefull stickers on your window.
5) Swap clusters back out and store un-used cluster for next year.

OR

Keep it registered to your parents house in FL

Just put the motor back together, just waiting to get it re-tuned. Now I'm going somewhere where emissions are gonna be a problem.... oh the never ending issues...

Thats what I plan on doing. I have my M out here now and everytime I get pulled over they ask if I live here and I say nope, I just go back and forth every month for work. If you tell them you moved, they'll give you a ticket for not changing your address and registration or warn you to do it. Legally you have to do it with in 4 weeks of moving.

Also, keeping it registered in FL means no front plate. Although I've heard some people say you don't legally have to use them here.

Welcome to Texas... I just moved out here last year.... I used to live in Carrollton and now moved out to Murphy. Texas has it's + and - like anywhere else. Maybe in the summer we can try and get a meet together or something. Keep us up to date on your move.

Quick question, I plan on doing the same thing (my car will pass emissions, I want do not want to do it ). But the car is under my parents name (not mine). I plan on getting a new license (with my texas address). Will they still give me problems?

I would imagine they would not, but you never know
