Opinion on wheels size selection on a DC2 Integra .... no flaming.. (really need input)
I'm having some ricer syndrome at the moment, and in need of some help and suggestions. i'm a fan of big wheels, and i think 17" looks perfect fit on the dc2 integra.
currently the car have 17x7 42offset, with 205/40-17 tires for daily. i know the tire will rub when i turn the wheel all the way, and i need to pick out a set of wheels / tires combination that will work on the track without any rubbing issue.
so here are the questions:
- if i run a set of of 17x7 43offset with 205/40-17 (tires are potenza s03) will it cure the rubbing issue?
- if not, 16x7 40offset with 205/45-16 (tires will be hankook r-s2) will it solve the problem?
- lastly, i know the 15x6.5 40offset with 205/50-15 will not have any problem, BUT i would be afraid that the car might risk scraping the front lip.
please share your knowledge and help me find a solution, thanks guys
(i posted this on wheels/tires, got no response, but i know road racing guys will help me out!!)

Go with the 16's for the track. No need to be a ricer there. I like big wheels too. But 16's will more then likely be lighter and cost less.
it truly depends one what type of 17 you get whether it looks ricey, but i say go with 16, if you run 205/40 on them you should have no trouble at all
first of all, where is it rubbing? is the outside of the tire rubbing on the fender, or are you rubbing the inside of the tire on the frame at full steering lock?
if you are rubbing on the inside, you are fine, you will never be at full lock on the track.
if you are rubbing on the outside fender, you need a wheel with a higher offset, which will push the face of the wheel toward the center of the car.
example, for rims 7" wide, a 40mm offset sticks out more than a 43mm offset.
16s are fine, but 17s have a WAY more choices for tire brands and sizes. this is important since you will be looking at performance tires.
honestly, 15s are probably the best in terms of economical track wheels and tires. they are cheaper, lighter, and you can get a bazillian tires in the 15" size, and they are considerably cheaper than 17" tires. you can get wider tires for 17s though.
so my recommendations for track wheels/tires are 15s for cost and availability, followed by 17s, then 16s.
or you can keep your 17s for the street, and get a set of 15s for the track.

it's on groundcontrol / koni comobo, roughly less than 1 finger gap in the front wheel to fender.
also, i think 205/40-16 might be just as low as running on 15" at the track. i guess i'm just afraid to damage my chargespeed front lip
