96 GSR died on my way to work and wont start
Hey guys did some searching but didnt find a really good answer if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!
Need some help guys need to some options to look at so I can get my car up and running for tomorrow. I was on my way to work and stopped at a light went to go when the light turned green and it felt like I stalled. I went to start again but it sounded like it was running so it just made a grind. Stepped on the gas and nothing. Stopped everythin went to try and start again and it wont start.
I got it off to the side of the road everytime I try to start it cranks and even shakes like it wants to start bit it wont turn over. I cant tell if my fuel pump is starting because the power antenna etc. could the main relay cause the car to stop running? Could the ignition coil or any part of the distributor be bad? The plugs are brand new and I filled less than 4 days ago and I only fill with 91 Octane. I got no CEL's so I dont know where to start but I need to get her running ASAP incase my wife goes into labor etc. Its a 96 GSR 4dr. Thanks in advance for the help!

if you cant tell if the fuel pump is priming because of your antenna, turn the power off on your radio and turn your ignition on without cranking it....listen for the whine of the fuel pump
as for the distributor, pull it off and take out the ignition module and coil, and take them to your local autozone...the coil has a primary and secondary range that is conducted in tolerable amount of ohms....if the resistance is out of this range then it is shot
the module itself needs to be tested on a specific machine to test all of its components related to fuel/timing/spark...but autozone has the equipment and harness to do so
this is all done FREE of cost by them...just a matter of you pulling the parts out and getting them there, so you can start eliminating potential problems or hopefully find one of these faulty and replace

Thank you yeah my plan is to take the hole cap over there and hopefully they can tell me one of those is bad. I also have a spare main relay at home so I will plug that in to see if its that.
Other than those is there anything I should really look at the MAP etc.? I really do appreciate the help thanks again!

sounds like some electical thing if not the fuel pump..so i was taught to check the easy things first..start with the battery, then the fuses and relays, then check the starter solenoid..hope that helps..
Check the timing belt, i had the same problem once(was heading to work and all of a suden the car shut down and all power was lost)
