Default Fuel light does not go off

My Fiance lives in Canada. Last week she forgot to plug in the engine heating element of her car overnight (bloody cold in Canada this time of year). Since then, when she drives the car, the fuel light will not go off. Her Honda mechanic just said keep driving it and the light should go back to it's usual function after a week (I love when they say that).

Anyone got any thoughts on why it would stay on? Everything seems to work fine. As far as we can tell there is no problems with the fuel pump.

Cheers

if its stuck i would probably pull cluster and pull the bulb, just don't be mental and pay attention to your fuel gauge
