Default stock lsd question

i bought a fifth gen base tranny m two y four sorry for the wierd way i spelt that i have a virus on my computer and its making it so i cant use numbers or any kind of punctuation

my question is how do the stock lsds compare to the quaife lsds or any other aftermarket ones

i have seen a few going for around three hundred compared to the quaife which are around seven or eight used and nine to a thousand new

is it really that big of a difference

this is one mod i really really want because i have driven so many cars with them and they truly are one of the best upgrades you can buy i just want to know if i can get away with buying a stock lsd and still be satisfied

thanks

i dont have experience with ne upgraded lsd only stock, but i think this would be like comparing your stock exhaust system to a upgraded mandrel system. the stock system works but the upgraded work alot better.

I have used both at the sandia track, and I like the quaife better. I don't know if I like it twice as much though... Also, make sure your tranny can take an OEM LSD if you decide to go that way.

Is the sandia track you speak of a drag strip or road course? I wonder if it is easier to feel the difference powering through a turn as opposed to accelerating in a straight line.

i talked to a couple of the service guys at my work and the mechanics about this

they informed me that the oem compresses liquid of some sort and under high stress (racing or speeding) the fuild over heats and than needs to be replaced often

they said with the quaife its a clutch type lsd so the fluid does not need to be replaced as often

they said more but i forgot it now and need to reask them to make sure im getting the just of what they said

shutta offered me an oem and said make an offer but i have no clue what a reasonable offer for a used oem lsd is i was think around two fifty but like i said i have no real clue i need some help guy!!!

i believe honda oem lsd is a gear type lsd, quaife is a gear type lsd.. nothing will ever need to be replace.. unless it explodes

viscious type lsd is oem to most nissans and they need to be replaced over time.. viscious type is the fluid type that you are refering to.

kazz is the one of the major brands that use clutch type lsds (small clutchbands inside) that will need rebuilds over time.. and most are NOT found in oem applications.

i hope that clears that up for you. seems like those techs didnt know what they were talking about

The track I mentioned is a race track.
