Default PLEASE HELP: I need Advice on using a d15b7 block with a d16y8 head???

For temporary purposes till I get my new motor I am using a d16y8 head on a d15b7 block. Is there any huge differences in the motors that I need to know about/modify??

The d15b7 block doesn't have a knock sensor, do I need the knock sensor? What can I do?

And any tips on easier ways to remove axle and tranny to take out the d16 block???

they would fit, but Z6 head would be better chiose...

yes, you need a knock sensor, 'cause the VTEC is predefined and will mostly rely on knock sensor!

you also need a solenoid switch for VTEC...and a P28 with VTEC wires, or you'll have to pull some wires from the engine compartment to the ECU...

btw, if you plan to put the Y8 engine which is OBD2 ECU&wires to 5gen civic which is OBD1 ECU&wires, you will have problems...but there are some text on this forum to help you...so try the search!

</TD></TR></TABLE> Since when does a OBD-1 SOHC require a Knock sensor, not one of my Z6's has ever had one, nor required one to function properly.

He was talking about my y8 not the z6, he only referred to the z6 because he said it would be a better choice for the combo with the d15b7 block
