'92 accord EX - starter wont turn over
when i get this car started, it runs like a top.... but
its been starting fine up until a few days ago. even in the extreme cold. I turn the key, and zero. nothing. i hear a slight whine from the engine compartment when i goto the start position on the column. i do the screwdriver trick over the leads of the starter, and it turns over and car starts fine. wondering if theres a fuse or relay that might be burnt out? or the starter might just be plain fubar'd? car has brand new battery and battery cables.
thanks.

maybe you could check for power at the start solenoid when the key is turned to 'crank'. That would prove the ignition switch good or bad.
If you are in the 'rust belt' check the ground from the battery at the trans connection.

A correct and accurate diagnose is always better than throwing parts at a problem.

checked for power at solenoid. theres power there. since the starter is very accessible, being right on top there, i took a hammer and tapped it while someone else turned the ignition to the crank position, and boom, it started. Rinse, wash and repeat a few times to make sure.
got a new starter..... and geeeezzzzz... they aint cheap!
thanks.
