First off: Yes I searched, and yes I checked the FAQ, I may be blind but I didn't find anything of use.
in about 15 minutes I'm going to start taking the front bumper off so I can remove the headlights, I am then going to take apart the headlight housing and paint it black for my HID setup. (before anyone freaks out, I just bought an OEM 98+ headlight package to store for when I go back to stock) anywho, I've never removed the front bumper, and I see the obvious bolts on the top of the engine bay but I'm wondering if there are any other clips or tricks or anything to getting it off? Also, anything I should know about removing the headlights?

Sweet, that was easy

.. now onto the headlights.
Speaking of, anyone know the best way to break the seal on them?

Thanks, It took me about 15 minutes to remove my bumper, really quite easy!
I read this writeup on team-integra.net
http://www.team-integra.net/se...D=555
What I'm trying to do is take apart my headlights so I can paint the interior black.
Does anyone have any instructions or pictures on how the headlights should look when I have them in the oven? the team-integra one just says "make sure to wrap the housing in aluminum foil" does that mean everything but the clear front?

Hrm, Well I guess I'll be heading to Sears tomorrow to check it out!
Anyone know what sort of paint is good to use? I was going to go with flat black.

The housing, internally get's pretty hot due to the heat put off by the bulb. You may want to think about using some BBQ paint or something with a higher heat rating.
Check the Craftsman website just to make sure I'm not smoking crack.

Hrm, $70 bucks, not exactly what I wanted to spend on this mod, haha. I'll see if a friend has one. So have you done this before Haleiwa? I can't find a decent write up on how to do it yourself, it seems pretty straight forward, and from what I'm told I just re-heat the adhesive to put the cover back on the headlight when I am finished? any steps I need to take to ensure no moisture gets trapped inside?
Thanks
Thanks
I have not done this, but it looks pretty straight forward. Patience with this one is the key. I would put several layers of paint on the housing and ensure proper drying time between each one.
Also, Craftsman has a sweet return policy. Use it and take it back.

Haha, I was thinking of doing that but didn't want to post it
I'll go out and check on some high temp paint too.
Good thing is I found some OEM headlights for $100 on ebay so if I F&#^ it up, no worries!
I'll post back on this as the project continues!!

I did it the other days because mine got water condensation inside of it.I put it in the oven but watch it closely so it wont melt.Check on it and see if the seal can be remove then take it out.Its pretty simple but you have to pay attention to it!! let me see how the headlights look when you get done.I havent seen black housing stock lights before...

Did you wrap any of the headlights in aluminum foil when they were in the oven? what temp did you set the oven at? can you tell me what steps you used to re seal them? what did you do while you had them apart to remove condensation?
I'll post a ton of pics once it's compete!

I'm getting an HID kit. with the HID I've seen how theo chrome housing causes a terrible glare and a not so pleasent light cutoff (blinding oncomming cars). So I'm painting them black for A) a more agressive look and B) so I don't blind people.
I picked up another set of OEM headlights just incase I either F*@^ it up or don't like it.
I think it'll turn out nicely.

With the time and effort you are putting into this project, is there any reason why you aren't going to do an HID retrofit? The only other thing you are looking at having to complete is the installation of the new projectors.
You are going to pay more to complete the job, but your results will be superior to any aftermarket HID kit you can buy. Ask anyone, the projector makes all of the difference, and our projectors were not made for an HID bulb.
It is completely up to you, i just thought i would try and educate you on the situation so that down the road you are not saying "why didn't anyone tell me?"
Good Luck
