How do you know the battery is good? Just because you push started the car doesnt mean the battery is good. It sounds like the battery has a shorted cell. Because the car was able to run after you push started it means you were getting power from somewhere. In this situation it sounds as if the alternator was providing the power to run the vehicle. Though since the battery has a shorted cell, the alternator can not charge it and so then you still have a bad battery. If you drive like this, you will fry your alternator very fast. Take a multimeter and test the voltage of your battery. Your battery is junk.

Why don't you try to jump start it first? If the car start then it's the battery. I don't think it's the starter though.

keep the multimeter on the battery while you try to crank it over. Let us know what the voltage drops to. Also, what is the voltage of the battery when just sitting?

Very weird. Usually would be battery in this case. Maybe your starter is locked up. Any d-series starter should work. If you need one, I have one you could buy. Try tapping the starter a few times with a hammer. Dont mash on it, just tap it lightly then try to start it. Maybe have someone tap on it while trying to start it also. See how that goes and post back up.

You might want to check out the dist. and all that krap too having to do with ignition timing....My friends GSR would do this...and it ended up being his cap...but his wouldnt start from a role?? which leads me to assume your negative ground was feeding off enough power to start when the car is actually rolling but the battery is still good.

Yes otherwise Id say it was the starter....basically you could have a krappy battery though might just want to replace it totally and see if it REALLY does make a diff. otherwise...your killing the life of your alternator making it generate and store the power to start the car...instead of just generating it.

Have a friend tap on the starter with a heavy metal object while you hold the key in the crank position. tap frimly not so hard that you bend the housing but put some force behind it. If the starter is bad (but not totally shot) the car should crank over for you.

Clean the posts on the battery, and clean the insides of the clamps on the posts...

It there's a dirty connectino, the solenoid on the starter won't see enough juice to kick over an you get clicky clicky, etc even though the battery is strong.

Another trick. Clean the battery terminals and the wires to the battery with baking soda water. It'll eat off most the built up funk.

Trust me, you don't wanna pay Honda $200 to laugh you out the door with no problems, except a bad connection.

I'm about 100% positive its the starter. Has the same problem in one of my other vehicles [the "click, click, click] and it was the starter. So go ahead and replace it because it sounds like you battery is just fine. Good luck

Its the starter, same thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago, i went to the local autoparts store and asked what it could be, and they said it was the starter, so i bought one, and put it in, and worked fine........., also i cleaned the battery and everything before i bought the starter..........

If the battery and starter are indeed good, I would try testing / replacing the main relay. It should be screwed in under the dash all the way on the left side of the car. You also could try taking a wire and running it from the positive side of the battery to the terminals on the starter to make sure that the starter motor will turn, and that the soleniod is working properly.

IT'S THE STARTER.

Have happend to me many times in different cars (toyota, honda, nissan) all the time, the same thing - click, click, click

I think places like autozone and pepboys check starters to see if they still work.
