I have a question does anyone know if the rear door handels off a 1998 4 door civic will fit/work on a 1998 civic 2 door. I want to do this is because someone tried to pry the key lock on my girlfriends civic so i was going to get the rear 4 door handels because they have no lock and put them on her car. She already has an alarm with keyless entry. Her civic is an EX not sure if that makes a difference anyone that knows or has any info please reply.

Do you know if they are a direct replacement? I noticed that there is a rod that connects to the key cylinder off the original handel do i just let that hang inside of the door when i put the keyless handel?

it is a direct replacement, i just did it to mine a month or so ago, i just took the tumbler rod out of the door. just be sure that the rod and handle are adjusted right before you put the inside panel back on, i found that out the hard way. my passenger side door was stuck closed for a week till i had to rip the inside panel off, talk about a pain in the butt!

 

when you say to adjust them correctly is that when you thread the door handle on the rod?

You mean like shaved handles where you hit the button on the remote and the door pops open an inch?

If so, those are bad-***. My ex-boss had them on his viper, but he relocated an electric lock cylinder to under the car right inside the chassis of the door in case the remote ever went dead - he could still open the doors.

The new something car's got a remote entry deal to open the doors and when you put it in the ignition it charges it.

Yes, 4 door handles should work. You'll have to swap cylinders though.

You think taking out the lock cly in the door handle will stop someone from breaking in? Whoever was trying to pick the lock obviously had no idea what they were doing as they would have spent all day trying to get it open. If someone wants in the car, they will get in and it won't be from the lock. Just leave it like it was and invest in a good alarm and hope for the best.

true...the keylesss handles are still pretty sweet though...
