Default Custom Pieced Exhaust from RSX-S???

hello everyone

i wanted to get everyone's opinion once again on something that i am planning on doing.

well, i've recently purchased a Race Header. of course that gets rid of the catalitic coverter and replaces it with a resonator.

i want a new exhaust to match my new race header, but as we all know, performance exhausts = noise. i'm trying to keep my ride on the quiet side, while trying to make power.

my solution is to piece together a custom exhaust using the catback from an '06 RSX-S. i'm choosing the '06 exhaust because to my knowledge they come with bigger diameter piping than the previous years. i know i'll have to get some cutom work done because the rsx is shorter than the civic.

what does everyone think? i think i'm going to go for either the custom set-up, or get the RSR-EX Mag. but i'm afraid the RSR exhaust will be too loud for my tastes.

opinions/thoughts?

sounds like a good plan... rsr-ex mag is not that loud imo... why don't you try a twin loop or world sport exhaust, those are quiet exhaust

i figured that anything that had a larger resonator (stock) would be quiter.

i've asked people that had a race header and the RSR-EX Mag for their feedback. they said that at highway speeds, it can be drony and it was a bit louder than they expected. i just dont want to have to spend $500 to find out that i dont like the exhaust.

i'd like to stay away from the Apex'i WS or twin loop designs because i dont like their styling. but, that doesnt mean i'll rule them out either.

Regardless of what you get, it won't produce any horsepower/torque figures to speak of. So, it's all down to looks and sound, because you won't be getting anything else out of it. If you find a can that looks good to you and produces the right exhaust tone, then go for it.

do you really think that set up wont yeild any hp/torque gains?

i was researching on clubrsx.com and many members there have swapped out their exhaust out for the '06+ or the type-r exhaust set up because they keep things stealth while adding on a bit of performance.

the '06 b-pipe is the same size as the type-r, which is 2'' interior diameter.

The RSX has a 2L K-series, you have a 1.7L D-series. The engines are not alike, and thus have varying results to bolt-ons.

thats understandable... but if i upgrade, even with the piping from the rsx... i'm getting a larger diameter piping over stock. so in a sense, i am upgrading to a "catback", just not an aftermarket one thats as freeflowing?

do i have a point?

u have no point.

yes on MOST other engines, a larger diameter exhaust, header, and intake would yeild some gains.

For some reason the d17 doesnt like anything but stock. people are seeing maximum 10whp after i/h/e and some tuning, that is garbage, save ur $$ for a turbo kit, or suspension/brake work.

just FYI, the axleback falls short about 6 inches from your bumper so youll have to extend it.

and as for sound wise, at higher rpms, its raspy as crap.
