Default Emergency help needed. Oil leak behind filter. Selling car tomarow!

So I parked my prelude, and then had an offer for purchase. I was cleaning it up for sale and the people were looking over it. I started it and let it idle. Upon moving the car there was a pool of oil.

I got underneith and looked (not running) and saw it was coming from the filter. I assumed the recent cold spell had screwed up the seal. I replaced the filter and changed the oil. I started it up, and watched it while it was running from underneith. Sure enought a steady dripping of oil began. I got underneith and looked and it seems to be coming from between the filter and the block There what apears to be a coupler in between the block and oil filter. It's coming from the area where it connects to the block.

I don't know if that is part of the block or something replacable.

Please help!

Did you even bother to look to see if anyone already had an answer to this question? This is something like 15 posts down....

That's wonderful. I was in the process of searching. I thought it best to post and then look as i'm in such a bind.

Is it possible that the cold weather could have cracked the oil cooler? I assume i'd be getting coolant in my oil in that case. (part #18 in the diagram.) So it's most likely the O ring has gone bad. We have experienced sub zero temps here lately and the car was parked.

Sorry for posting such a noob question. I'm realy not that noobish when it comes to cars. I just thought i'd request the advice of the all knowing Honda Tech as this place has helped me out in the past. The prelude was just transportation to me. I could do anything on a D. I've never ran across this problem before either.

Yes, cold weather = cracked o-ring.

The oil and coolant won't mix.

what is the freezing point of your coolant? if its not mixed right it could be freezing the oil cooler and breaking it open.
