Default EL Cluster in 92? How?

Is it possible to put a EL instrument cluster in a 92 Prelude with manual transmission? Anyone have a write up on this, for the wiring?
Thanks

I have done it too both my ludes. My recomendation buy the EL cluster with the Grey box and the complete dash harness.

Otherwise there is a writeup here on how to modify the stock harness, but it isn't reall easy.

yeah easiest way is buy the gauges with inverter box with the dash harness. takes like 30 mins to install it all. search there's an article on how to install without the harness.

good luck finding all the info. not all of it is on h-t. i had to find some of it on preludeonline and other crap by searching archives when i did it on mine

there will be some problems if you don't use the dash harness from the 94-96

Just curious, I read where alot of people have had issues with the trip meter or odometer not working, if you have the grey box and full harness is this not an issue?

mmm yes my trip meter didn't work, but the odometer worked. The trip meter would reset everytime i turned off the car.

but i didn't use the full harness, i had to do a lot of splicing and soldering to my old 92 harness.

i used the whole harness and my trip meter and odo works just fine. only thing i have to do is ground 1 wire in a 3 pin plug on the harness to get my blinkers to shut off (inside the car it shows there on but there not just on in the gauges)

You need a 94-96 EL dash harness. You need the inverter box too. I do not know how to do it without the correct harness. SleepyH22 did my swap for me so that is exactly what we used in my 92 Si. I would not suggest doing it the other way it seems very difficult, others on here might say otherwise tough. And yes, if you have all of the above mentiones parts your trip and milage will work perfectly. There is one wire that has to be grounded from the EL harness that has to do with the turn signal indicators on the cluster. Maybe Sleepy can help you out with the details . I know it is on the passenger side of the car though. Good luck.
