Default adjusting headlights

i went on my way home and stopped at a empty industrial parking lot and shined my lights at a wall so i could adjust them, since my left one always seemed too low. so after 15 minutes of adjusing them vertically and seeing no change, i got frustrated and bent over the first light to see inside the adjuster. i happened to look back and noticed that only my passenger beam was showing, which gave me an idea. the passenger beam was straight, so i stood in front of that and looked at the driver side beam (crooked). guess what? it's not pointing too low. it's pointing exactly to where the passenger beam is. i need to adjust the horizontal, and i don't know how to adjust that. my (shitty) haynes manual points to this black stick with some kind of spring or something inside it but doesn't tell me how to use it. help! thanks.

theres a hole directly above where your lamp housing is, use a flat head screw driver to adjust your headlight angle.

you can move the housing which is one piece integrated with the high beams by loosining up the bolts. the housing is bolted on your body of the car.....it might be easier to work on it with your bumper off. let me know how it goes

You will never get that straight. I did not notice until I got my hids that the driver side was "crooked". The drivers side lamp sends most of its light to the right. I evened it out some, but it just meets up further down the road now.

The cutoff beam should be horizontal, but when you shine the lights on a wall it will look like this:

_______o----------_________o-----------

the "o" is of course the bright spot in the middle of each beam. The cutoff pattern is supposed to be at staggered heights like that to reduce glare for oncoming cars.

also, keep in mind that the driver's side beam is supposed to point lower than the passenger side.
