ITR Expo - Good News!!!
I got together with Phil earlier this evening and found out a couple of interesting things about the ITR Expo. Both of which consist of very good news, indeed.
First of all, it really is going to be an ITR Expo. There are only a few cars registered that are not ITR's (and most of them will be there only Monday, not Tuesday). So for those who are coming because they want the once-a-year unique opportunity to have an event that's pretty darn close to ALL ITR's, you've got it.
For those who wanted to bring cars other than the ITR, keep in mind that what makes this event different from other CGI events is because it's all (or almost all) ITR's. You can still have the chance to drive your non-ITR at GingerMan. CGI has events at GingerMan throughout the season, so if you are disappointed because you wanted to drive a CGI event at GingerMan, there are seven more CGI events there this year after this one. Click here for details. Also, here's another hint: sign up early, because the CGI events have been filling up several weeks beforehand.
The second item is also good news. Most organizations run track events with 5 run groups (including one for the instructors). That means that each run group gets to drive on the track for one fifth of the hours that the track is hot, in sessions of 20-30 minutes each. That means that each day, each driver is on the track for 80 to 95 minutes. Maybe that doesn't sound like much to those who have never been on the track, but it's actually enough to get you damn tired by the end of the day with all the physical effort and mental concentration going on.
Well, the 40-45 drivers at the ITR Expo will be grouped into three run groups, including the instructor run group. That means that each driver should wind up getting at least 150 minutes of actual track time each day. WOO HOO!!! That's a HUGE amount of track time, which is why so many folks dig CGI events. You may even have had so much driving by the end of each day that you decide not to even bother going out for the last track session. Without a doubt, no one is going to finish this event feeling that he didn't get the chance to have all the track time he wanted at the event.
Looking forward to meeting everyone there!

California is so far away -- we need an East Coast Expo too.
[edit]Oops I lost my direction. This way is East:
[/edit]Good to hear about the good news. Now I hope that the weather would be dry.

I think you're confused. The ITR Expo 2002, which will be held next week, will be in Michigan, not in California. And Michigan isn't that far from the East Coast. In fact, a bunch of East Coast folks are coming to the ITR Expo next week.
MI is certainly a lot closer -- I probably would have considered going if it wasn't Memorial Day weekend. Was there one on the East Coast last year? I obviously haven't looked this stuff up, but I thought the first one was last year in CA.

Nice. We get 5 hours/day of track time here
but no casual tracker could EVER do 5 hours in a day.. I usually do 30-45 minute sessions here 3 or 4 times depending on how tired I am (and when the hangover leaves).
-Someone, who's nissan wont start but it will hopefully still be at the expo..
