I have an almost uncontrollable urge to sell my car again
This happens every few weeks, this time I want to sell it to get an OBD1 E36 M3. Less theft worries, less police trouble, fewer rice boys reving on me, RWD, and it's a BMW. Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking when I bought my car.
I was hoping for "don't do it, it's an ITR (gasp)...LOL. I would have this huge box of parts and a header I'm starting to think does not really exist to get rid of too, and that's a lot of work. I'm not sure how to convince my wife to let me do it, and I'm not sure in 7 months I wont want to sell an M3 to get an escolade or something. 2 weeks ago I wanted a G6 SI.

I totaled my R a week ago and bought a 99 M3.I don't think I would have sold the R for the M....but,if it's time for something different go for it!
I have not got the M3 yet,I bought it out of state and it will not be here intil Friday.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if a stock e36 M3 is as good of a track car as a stock ITR. I bought my car because I wanted to drive a few track schools and have a daily driven car. I did not realise all the baggage associated with an ITR. Also, could I work on a BMW? I'm confident doing most of my own work on my teg, and I would like to not give that up. I'm guessing a BMW will be more complex. I think I'm going to go try to test drive one next week.

I tend to get a new car about every year or two. No matter what, you'll never be content. I think I'm quite content now with my car. The hard part is trying to get my girl to get a new ride. I'm pushin for her to get an S2K. Wish me luck. haha.
What makes you think an ITR would be so superior to an E36 M3 on the track? Haha yeah wrong... They're both grat track cars and at least the M3 has RWD and torque..ish..
Sell it. Either you love the car and can handle the baggages that come with the car, or you should sell it while you still have some respect for it.
I wouldn't trade my ITR for any used car... unless it's something absurdly exotic (>$50,000).

Guy hit it on the head when he said I'll never be totally satisfied. I got my teg because I've always had hondas and my teg was the best honda I could afford. I love it to death, but I want to drive a RWD car now.
I'm thinking a happy compromise would be to sell my box of parts I haven't installed yet and get an E30 325. I donnoe, I entered my first autocross today and it was fun and the teg felt solid, but the RWD cars, specificaly the 6 cly BMWs looked like a lot of fun. I just need to own like 10 cars.

Dude I "used" to go thru this once a week, but then I realized, I would not be happy with any other NEW car under $30,000.... The R is it... Of course, I could always keep the R and get a 93-95 hatch with a GSR motor.
In my experience, the M3 will definitely be faster around a course but will require more effort and concentration on your part as a driver. The greatest thing about the Type R is how easy it is to drive fast. The car is very forgiving. High perf. RWD cars like the M3 have more potential but are a little harder to drive fast.
isnt there a way that you can keep it and with time purchase the other one ?
i also want a turbo car , all motor and turbo . but i will not get rid off my car to obtain turbo , just all with in time

gees, grown men that can't make up there own minds..... This web board is not your personal support group. if you want ot sell it then go ahead.
I use to think the same, I wanted a wrx. after driving one, its not even close to the fun factor. the wrx seems so big and heavy. the itr feels like a little racecar.
im going to enjoy what i have.

what does appriciating my car have to do with chit? I appriciate my wife. I appriciate my son. I drive my car. I like my car a lot, but I, along with a lot of other people, am sick of worrying about how much other people would appriciate my car, or more specificaly appriciate my engine in their hatch. Last I checked, not too many stunnaz are running around with 318s looking for M3s to steal and do an engine swap. I don't appriciate police rubberneckin' every time i drive by B/C I have a big wing. Removing the wing is not an option B/C I like it. I drive the chit out of my car, but I want it left at that. I'm sorta burnt out on the sideshow that accompanys owning an ITR.

I never said I hated it, I just don't like the baggage. It is a car, there should be no drama involved in ownership.

IMHO, the import scene has driven ITR to be used for what it was intended to be... a weekend track warrior. Daily driving it in today's import scene means just too much trouble and headaches.
I say, do what makes you feel good. Just remember though, all BMW parts are more expensive than Hondas or Toyotas. (I didn't say which would last longer, if properly maintained...)
G'luck.

then it will be time for a current Vette
