a civic one would be best since your going to be using the civic harness, but a crv manual will also come in handle for identifying the sensors on the motor

I would get both. You can never have enough information. Getting both manuals will give you an upper hand if and when you need to service your car.

I have both Integra and Civic manuals for my setup.

because most of honda-tech users support helm inc and buy the books (which is why links to where one can download them are prohibited)

The Haynes manual lacks a lot of information if compared to a Helms manual. Again, go with a Helms.

#1 i didnt say steal from helms, or haynes they lack alot of information compared to the FSM

i dont blame you guys for not knowing what an FSM is but dont say i told you to steal a general public book i said download the honda factory service manual for that year of civic, its the best book for the money actually its the best book period, if you are a mechanic and you dont know how to do, lets say a pdi? you look up pdi in the 1500 page book, it tells you how to do the pads, every single recall and whole entire pages of wiring schematics thank you moron

Okay. Where would me, a common layperson, go to purchase a FSM?

The one I'm thinking of is restricted to the Honda dealership network, as in you have to go through a restricted Honda website to access them. And I don't remember them allowing just anyone to sign up for access.

If it's something else, and we can purchase downloadable manuals ala carte, all nice and legal, please enlighten me - I'd love to get my hands on some documentation in electronic form. My Helms is beat to hell, I've got about a half-dozen pages that are only held in by scotch tape.

Listen, I'm not trying to fight you. If I can cheaply (around the price of a Helm service manual) & legally gain access to the FSM for my car, please point me to where I need to go.

However, I'm not a certified Honda mechanic. I'm not training to be a certified Honda mechanic (PACT). And I certainly don't work for any dealership or service center. If you happen to be one of those with legal access to the site, hey, more power to you. However, that doesn't exactly help me.

Close, but they're just reselling Helms manuals, and they're not in electronic form. Or at least that's all they're doing for my 1997 Honda Del Sol - 96 service manual part# matches my Helm SM part#, 97 supplement part# matches my Helm SMS part#, and when I was going through checkout they talk about shipping costs (unless they're shipping CDs, but that seems unlikely since the site doesn't mention that they put books into electronic form).

My guess is spork has access to the Honda site that hosts FSMs, which he can legally access, and has decided to brag about having access to the site. If true, that bragging doesn't help the thread starter or any normal H-Ter who wants to purchase service manuals.
