i have a question on front tie rods!
well, recently i picked up some tie rods from a local shop. didn't bother to open up the box until i got home (i know, stupid of me). and to my suprise, the ball joint was weird. it didn't have the hole to push the cotter pin through, nor did it come with a castle nut, it cam with a locking nut. so i called the store up and they tell me that's how they come.
everything is exactly the same as far as what is currently on my car and the parts that i picked up. just the ball joint isn't like the oem ones.
has anyone experienced this before? you know with the locking nut? is it safe? should i just return them and go to a different store?

$35 for the pair.
hmm...is this what i get for going cheap?

I never said it was cheap. However, retail OEM cost like $40 and Majetic charge like $30. I don't see anything wrong with the self-locking nut.

just afraid eventually it will come loose. though i have never had a castle nut come loose, but i look at the cotter pin as one extra step to preventing the nut to come loose. just wondering, does any one else have any ideas?
